“If you don't love what you do, you won't do it with much conviction or passion.”

Mia Hamm

I love life! I am a proud father of two children and husband to my beautiful wife, Emily. In my spare time I like to go on bicycle rides with my family and enjoy the beautiful Florida sun. I am passionate about music, especially when it is right between my ears. I also enjoy photography, videography, electronics, sports cars and am very happy when I can explore new adventures in the kitchen. If I had the time, I would love to have a boxer (dog) companion to keep me company. I am originally from Germany and have been in the United States since 1988. I miss the old country , but could not be happier about where I am now.

Professional Skills

There is no better feeling than knowing your customers are happy.

My career started near Atlanta, GA for a start-up company with the implementation of a distributable MS Access application for renting cell tower space and the associated accounting.

After that, I started working for a company in the healthcare industry providing quality/performance improvement and customer service analysis as the head of IT. I held that position for nearly fifteen years.

Expanding on previously found knowledge, I started my own company in 2009. NuGuava Technologies offers a highly customized service for helping businesses with client retention, new client acquisitions, as well as managing their online reputation. Especially in today's economy, organizational improvement tools represent an invaluable cornerstone to many businesses.

Software Development

I started programming in the 8-bit days about 30 years ago with PET BASIC on my Commodore 64, and later upgraded to an 8086, on which I programmed a game similar to Zork using the layout of our apartment as a map. When Delphi came into BETA, I was very excited about it having had experience with Turbo Pascal, and bought a copy with my pocket money - my first experience with a RAD tool.

These days are long gone. Even though Ruby has been around for nearly twenty years, I had not really heard of it until about 2006, when Apple started shipping it with their OS. Ruby on Rails has become my application framework of choice.

One of my passions is to write elegant and efficient software. Performing complex operations on data records in the 10's of millions in the fraction of a second definitely lights my fire.
